Tadafem  is a drug used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) and the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). It is frequently sold under the trade name Cialis.  It is a member of the class of medications known as phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors, which help men get and keep an erection when they are sexually stimulated by boosting blood flow to the penis.  Tadalafil comes in tablet form and is typically used as needed, while daily use is an option for continued treatment.

Tadalafil's prolonged duration of action is its main advantage.  Tadalafil can continue to work for up to 36 hours, in contrast to other ED drugs that usually only last for 4–6 hours.  Because it extends the window for sexual activity, it has been dubbed "the weekend pill," which encourages couples to be more spontaneous.  It is usually well tolerated and can be taken with or without food.

Additionally, tadalafil helps treat BPH, a disorder that results in symptoms like poor urine flow, frequent urges, and difficulty urinating.  Tadalafil relieves these symptoms by relaxing the muscles in the bladder and prostate, which makes urination easier for men and enhances their general quality of life.  Men who suffer both BPH and ED at the same time may be prescribed it.

Tadalafil has the same potential adverse effects as other drugs, such as headaches, flushing, indigestion, and muscle aches.  Rarely, it may result in more severe side effects like priapism, which is an erection that lasts longer than four hours, or sudden visual or hearing loss.  Because tadalafil can interact with nitrates or other medications, it's crucial to use it as directed by a healthcare professional, particularly for people with heart issues or those taking specific prescriptions.
