What is A GodQuote?

Satan speaks in the Bible.
His words are not God’s words.
His quotes are not God’s quotes.
There are false prophets in the Bible.
God makes it very clear their words are not His words.
Their quotes are not God’s quotes.
There are liars, murderers, and rapists in the Bible.
Their words are not God’s words. Their quotes are not God’s quotes.
Rather, their words are part of God’s message.
So then…
Which words are God’s words?
Which quotes are God’s Quotes?

The Bible begins:

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and empty. Darkness was on the surface of the deep and God’s Spirit was hovering over the surface of the waters. God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. God saw the light, and saw that it was good. God divided the light from the darkness. (Gen 1:1-4 WEB)

“Let there be light” – this is the first GodQuote in Holy Scripture. How do we know? The Bible tells us “God said”. Thus, the Bible tells us when God is speaking. These are God’s Quotes.

Here are 3 more examples:

God spoke to Moses, and said to him, “I am Yahweh. I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, as God Almighty; but by my name Yahweh I was not known to them.” (EXO 6:2-3 WEB)

“Behold, the days come,” says the Lord Yahweh, “that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing Yahweh’s words. They will wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east; they will run back and forth to seek Yahweh’s word, and will not find it.” (AMO 8:11-12 WEB)

“You shall seek me and find me, when you search for me with all your heart.” (JER 29:13)

Throughout the Bible, God’s Quotes include:

  1. Words Father God speaks to someone
  2. Words Father God speaks through someone or something
  3. Words someone uses when quoting or strongly paraphrasing Father God
  4. Words of a prophet when prophesying – in the act of foretelling future events
